A dedicated server is a physical machine completely isolated for your usage. No other clients are hosted on this machine or have access to it. It offers high CPU power (as much as you can configure) and is especially interesting for high performance applications. However, virtualization techniques have improved the last years and often, the processing power is no longer a bottleneck.

Another difference, which can influence our choice, is the cost per GB space. With a Virtual Dedicated server, storage space is hosted on our Enterprise storage cluster. While this is a very safe and high performing solution, the cost per GB is higher than on traditional hard disks. When you need to save a large amount of data, a physical Dedicated Server often has the advantage.
